For those who commit to this challenge, here are some of the results you can realistically achieve:
Grow Closer to God
Do you desire to grow closer to God but feel like you are stuck in a rut when it comes to hiding His Word in your heart?
Matters of the Heart can help by:
developing the habit of reading Scripture, memorizing Scripture without a large time requirement, knowing His Word to help you hear His voice more clearly.
Grow in Character
Do you desire to grow more Christ-like in character? You are not alone!
There is no better way to grow stronger character than to spend time hiding God's Word in your heart!
By immersing yourself in God's Word you will not only change from the inside out; you will also be a light to those around you. Exciting isn't it?
Minister to Others
Do you desire to minister and help those around you but feel ill-equipped? You are not alone, dear sister. Ministering to others is a natural by-product of memorizing Scripture.
God will give you a stronger desire and skillset to minister to His people as you develop a strong, disciplined habit of hiding His Word in your heart. The two go hand-in-hand.
I have created two companion products to go along with the 52-Week challenge. Both of these were created to help solidify the memorization process and make it easier to get the family involved.
Matters of the Heart Prayer + Reflection Journal has 52 beautiful, high quality digital KJV Scripture art prints to go along with each weekly verse. You can easily print these out and frame them. Along with these 52 gorgeous prints comes a journaling page for each KJV verse (52 in all). I use these to write down my prayers and reflections from the weekly verse and challenge.
Matters of the Heart Printable 3x5 Scripture Cards include 52 beautiful 3x5 KJV Scripture cards matching the art prints of the prayer + reflection journal. These cards can be printed out, laminated, whole punched (in the corner) and put on a ring. I take these with me in my purse everywhere I go!
Hello, Friend. My name is Carlie Kercheval. I am a busy wife and work-at-home homeschooling mom who loves Jesus.
I used to feel guilty for having less time to spend reading and memorizing Scripture due to the growth of our family and different seasons that life brought my way.
The Lord quickly got a hold of my thinking and let me know that it wasn't how much time I spent in the Word that was important; rather it is doing what His Word says. This understanding freed me and I developed a way that I could easily stay immersed in His Word without feeling guilty or stressed.
Now, in 5 minutes a day or less, I am not only memorizing God's Word, I am sharing the verses with the entire family and we are having a great time challenging one another to remember them!
I am excited to be on this journey with you and here to encourage you that you CAN do this!
One Woman's Testimony of Hope After Tragedy
"Every week I look forward to scripture memorization. As I say each scripture slowly asking the Lord for each word to stay in my heart and mind then applying to my life has helped me with those negative thoughts that come to mind at times. Through this tough time of my life I'm facing a lot of battles of my role as a mother. My son (28 yrs old) committed suicide, devastating. I have two other children (18, 25), that I question myself about motherhood. Why, my son did what he did? How do I rejoice through this? How do I help my children through this if I'm either crying or just quiet? How? Why? I'm a young mom (47 yrs old) where did I go wrong? So many questions I ask God. He has never left me and I know that I move and live because of Him. Then I bump into your web site, a God appointment with this challenge. I chew on each word thinking of what it means to me. God is showing me to trust Him for the plans that He has for me and children are for good. I do trust Him and will keep on memorizing scripture. A lot going on but am thankful. Please pray for me."
“One of the things I love about Matters of the Heart is it’s “do-ability”. Most of us are busy-birds and unfortunately, we use busyness as a excuse not to commit more Scripture to memory. At just one scripture a week, Matters of the heart makes it easy. No more excuses!”
“The word of God is both practical and powerful, which is why I love Carlie’s Scripture Memory Challenge. Carlie strategically connects targeted scripture memory with 52 heart and life challenges we commonly face as women. The result is a transparent, relatable resource that equips us for true transformation through the word of God.”
“As a busy mom of four, a devotional like Matters of the Heart is a wonderful addition to my alone time with God. I love how practical it is, and the wisdom that it imparts. Any mom will benefit from this book.”
“Being able to rattle off a few Scripture verses is nice, but if that’s all your Scripture memorization consists of you’re really missing out. Matters of the Heart contains solid Scripture, encouraging, relatable and applicable stories as well as 52 weekly challenges all designed to help you grow deeper in faith—not just knowledge. Would definitely recommend!”
Here are the questions at we are most often asked about the Matters of the Heart 52-Week Scripture Memorization Challenge:
Q: What version of the Bible are the verses?
A: This book is based on the King James Version (KJV) of the Bible.
Q: Will this be available in paperback? Or just digital?
A: Yes! You will be able to purchase the challenge book in paperback. The companion products (prayer + reflection journal and 3x5 memory verse cards) are only offered digitally at this time.
Q: How many verses will we memorize in a year?
A: If you are able to follow the plan as outlined, will be able to memorize 52 verses in a year.
Q: Can I really memorize a verse in just 5 minutes a day?
A: Yes! Absolutely! If you read and/or speak the verse over and over throughout the day (which will only take you few seconds) you will begin to memorize it.
Q: What if I am a busy mom and my kids are always with me?
A: That's even better! I have made it a part of our everyday life to memorize Scripture as a family. I believe that our children are some of the best motivation and accountability partners out there! And the best part is that you can also make this a "game" and have each child try to memorize the verse with you!
